R Family Farm is a small-acreage farm located just 10 minutes from from Poplar Grove. Mike inherited his family's farm in 2008 and we were then able to expand. Our 7 children have all been involved in 4-H showing animals at the local fair for 30 years and now we have taken raising animals to a far larger level. From these simple beginnings, we have been encouraged by long time customers, our friends and family to become a favorite local supplier.

Our Farm

We grow a wide range of animals on our farm. Our goal is to keep our animals out on pasture as nature intended. We also grow a large amount of our grain and hay here on our farm that we feed our animals. Organic Non GMO corn, Organic oats and organic pasture are used. We are currently working on becoming Naturally Grown certified. We truly believe that meat with NO HORMONES, NO STEROID, and NO ANTIBIOTICS are better for everyone!

Our Fall Business keeps everyone busy here on the farm.

We grow and move over 60 thousand pounds of pumpkins each year to area Grocery Stores, Green Houses, Floral Shops and the public. We feature pumpkins, gourds, squash, small straw bales, corn shocks, and broom corn all grown here on our farm.

We use all antique machinery our farm. We will soon be adding pictures of us combining, grinding feed, and haying with our antique machinery.

We here at R Family Farm would like to Thank each and every one of our customers for purchasing our Meat. By purchasing our meat either at the Farmers Markets or at our Store, you have all helped save our Meat Business. Animals take a huge amount of Feed and care and the costs are huge. Each one of you has helped us to be able to continue to raise our animals and be able to provide you with quality meat. We truly could not have been able to continue if it hadn't been for you. So, again, Thank You from the bottem of our hearts!

Fresh Chicken (unfrozen) Available Sept 3rd

We are making another trip to Amish to have our chickens butchered so we will have Fresh, unfrozen Chickens ONLY at our store on Friday September 3rd and Saturday Sept 4th. Please call ahead so we know how many to have!

We also have many cuts of Pork now. Our Brats are featured at the North Boone High School Football Games!

You can also email your order in and we can have it boxed up and ready for you at the Woodstock or Belvidere Farmer's Market. Deliver is also available to McHenry, Crystal Lake, and Geneva.
